Exeter 2.50 WIN
There are some who still feel that the Tizzards’ strapping six-year-old has not fulfilled his potential since exploding on to the scene with a spectacular victory in the Cheltenham Festival Bumper of 2010. But after losing his way over hurdles, he enjoyed a fine first season over fences last term when beaten only by the best two novices in the country, Sprinter Sacre and Bobs Worth, in the races he completed. A couple of successes included a superb thrashing, giving 7lbs, of For Non Stop, who ran away with a big contest at Aintree on his seasonal bow two weeks ago. Similar front-running tactics over a similar trip could open his new campaign with another triumph today. It’s a good, tight-knit Haldon Gold Cup, but confident jockey Joe Tizzard reports that the classy gelding is working out of his skin at home, and the 3lbs he receives from his old rival, Menorah, could prove decisive.
