06/08/08 - Give service a chance
I HAVE been talking to people in the town asking their opinions of the Into Town bus service, and most responses have been positive – particularly from the elderly.
One conversation I had was with a lady of 88 years who lives in the Bargate end of town; she said that since her doctors' surgery and Asda had moved to Sleaford Road she has had to use taxis for essential travel. She is now able to walk to the nearest bus stop and enjoy the regular services to other parts of the town.
Those people who are condemning and disrupting the service, please remember not everybody is as fit or as able and car-owning as you. The elderly, infirm and people with small children will benefit greatly from this service.
I think it is important we think of others who are more likely to benefit from this service than simply to think of ourselves.
Let's give this service a chance.
