IN response to Coun Richard Austin's article regarding starting a new political party for Lincolnshire County Council:
I quote: 'People just do not trust them – they do not answer to local people and have failed to deliver on practical policies'.
I think the above applies to the Boston Bypass Independents party.
Firstly, with the Boston bypass or distributor roa
d. After being elected on a bypass platform, what has the party done on the matter?
Most of Boston gave them a mandate to get something done on the subject. What has he done – nothing.
Secondly, the Into Town bus service through Bargate's precinct area. Approximately 2,000 people signed the Boston Bypass Pressure Group's petition against it, and it also featured on BBC Look North with most people against it.
Yet he sat on a trial bus and would not get off to meet the objectors. Lincolnshire County Council told Boston they were having it so what did he do? He agreed with them.
Just one comment on the bus service – the idea is good but the operation of the timetable is poor. There is an alternative route which would keep buses out of the precinct yet give a better half-hour service for all.
Thirdly, has he listened to all the charities he wants to tax – yet he still wants to throw more money at the Princess Royal Sports Arena.
Finally, how many shops are closing and how many stalls are empty on market days?
Coun Austin, it is time you got your own house in order before you criticise others.
