* I READ the Boston Standard on August 6 with real interest.
Page 4 talked about the missing £2 million in outstanding council tax which led me to remember comments made by Boston Bypass Independent Party councillors at their first budget setting meeting on February 25 when it was said that Boston would be pro
sperous under the Boston Bypass Independent Party.
So my comment back to them is: Where are your missing millions, as under your watch, the amount of council tax debt has doubled in the last year?
I then read on page 5 about the Audit Commission's Cultural Services review so I then read the full Audit Commission report.
It left me with some searching questions for the Boston Bypass Independent Party councillors. Within the report it talked about pricing and concessions to promote access not being effective.
So we cannot be surprised if, six months after their first budget which saw the cost of swimming for over 65s increase by 89 per cent and for disabled people by 100 per cent, the Audit Commission concludes that the Boston Bypass Independent Party councillors have a poor understanding of pricing and access to its sports facilities.
To compound this issue there are questions now about whether the decision made on July 31 to give £150,000 extra to PRSA was the right decision, especially when you know that other councillors did not have access to the report until they had made this decision.
Sadly to say, the only people who suffer from these costly mistakes are the tax payers of Boston who only expect that our councillors collect all our taxes and run effective services.
I don't think that is too much to expect.
